QuenchTek Mono

QuenchTek Mono

PA-Free Thermoforming Film
QuenchTek Mono is a high-barrier, PA-free thermoforming film built on a polyethylene base with an EVOH oxygen-barrier layer. By keeping the entire structure within a single polymer family, it delivers the protection of a conventional high-barrier film while remaining a true mono-material film that is recyclable in existing PE streams. It is engineered in line with the EU PPWR’s design-for-recycling criteria — high barrier and circularity, with no trade-off.

About QuenchTek Mono

Key Features

  • PA-free, mono-material PE structure: PE / PE / Tie / EVOH / Tie / PE / PE (~90%+ polyethylene).
  • High oxygen barrier delivered by a thin EVOH layer.
  • Excellent deep-draw thermoformability and reliable seal integrity.
  • Designed for recyclability in existing PE film recycling streams.
  • Drop-in compatible with existing thermoforming lines.

Key Benefits

  • Recyclable packaging without sacrificing barrier performance.
  • Extended shelf life and protection for fresh and processed foods.
  • PPWR-ready: a step ahead of tightening EU recyclability requirements.
  • Easier end-of-life sorting for converters, brands and consumers.
  • Lower carbon footprint and cost parity – lightweight, with no line changes needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Conventional high-barrier thermoforming films rely on polyamide (PA / nylon) for formability and toughness, which makes them multi-material and difficult to recycle. QuenchTek Mono removes PA entirely and delivers the oxygen barrier from a thin EVOH layer along with multiple PE layers — so it stays mono-material and recyclable.

No. The EVOH core maintains a high oxygen barrier, while the multi-layer PE structure provides the toughness and deep-draw performance — so you keep the protection and shelf life expected from a high-barrier film.

QuenchTek Mono is designed for recycling in existing PE / film streams and engineered in line with PPWR design-for-recycling criteria. To substantiate recyclability claims in your market, we recommend pairing it with recognised certification (e.g. RecyClass).

No. QuenchTek Mono is engineered as a drop-in for existing thermoforming lines, with performance comparable to PA-based high-barrier films.
